Who is CMBA?

Central Maryland Beekeepers Association is a 501(c)(3) educational tax-exempt organization. Our members include beekeepers and honeybee enthusiasts of all backgrounds and levels of experience.

Our Events

By board vote, starting in June, member meetings will be the 1st Wednesday of every month.
No meeting in July or August.

2024 Maryland State Fair - Volunteers Needed!

CMBA at 2024 Maryland State FairThe Central Maryland Beekeepers Association (CMBA) is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join us at our Honey Bee Learning Center and Honey Sales booth in the Farm & Garden Building at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. This is a great opportunity to engage with the community, work along side beekeepers and talk about the importance of honey bees and other pollinators.

Beekeeping 101 Class

Has now concluded.

This course is offered once a year, and offers and introduction to basic concepts and how to maintain honey bees.

Community

We are here to serve our membership community in learning the most current information necessary to manage their honeybees and encourage connecting beekeepers with each other to share their knowledge. We are here to educate the public community about the importance of the honeybee to agriculture and life in general, and to promote the benefits of eating locally produced honey.

Education

We offer an annual basic beekeeping course, monthly meetings that include speakers or demonstrations with local and or nationally renowned beekeepers and or other related experts in their field, a teaching apiary for members, and our monthly newsletter “the Hive Tool” packed with the latest news articles for beekeepers.

Resources

CMBA offers its members ongoing learning opportunities, an extensive lending library of books and more, honey extraction equipment rentals, and our greatest resource of all: our beekeeper community!
